FTL attending SBC Summit 2026 in Lisbon

The FTL team will be attending SBC Summit 2026, which will take place in Lisbon from 29 September to 1 October 2026.

The annual SBC Summit brings together professionals from across the international gaming industry for three days of conferences, regulatory discussions, networking and meetings.

As part of this year’s program, Legal Director Alan Littler, will participate in the Netherlands & Belgium Regulatory Gaming Meetup on Tuesday, 29 September.

Together with Frank Op de Woerd, CEO of CasinoNieuws.nl, Alan will host the session, which provides an opportunity to exchange views on the latest regulatory and market developments affecting the Dutch and Belgian gambling sectors. Topics are expected to include developments under the Dutch Betting and Gambling Act, regulatory policy, compliance challenges and the changing competitive landscape in both jurisdictions.

The Netherlands & Belgium Regulatory Gaming Meetup forms part of SBC Summit’s program of jurisdiction-specific regulatory meetups, aimed at bringing together regulators, legal and regulatory experts and industry stakeholders to discuss developments in key gambling markets.

The session will take place from 10:45 to 11:45.

Partner Justin Franssen will be speaking on the panel “The Dutch Dilemma: Deposit Caps, Ad Bans and the Black-Market Boom” on Wednesday 30 September between 13:40 to 14:20.

The black market is no longer a side effect in the Netherlands, it’s a competitor. As players migrate offshore, unlicensed activity is estimated to be up 20–30 percent, driven by strict deposit caps, near-total advertising bans and a 37.8 percent GGR tax on licensed operators. Legal acquisition has slowed, high-value play has thinned and compliance costs keep rising. With demand unchanged but redirected, the real question is simple: Who is still winning in this market? Who is being outpaced by operators playing outside the rules?
